Topic: Ontario Government's Fiscal Policies and the Residents of Ottawa
Guest Speaker: Dr. Merrilee Fullerton, MPP for Kanata-Carleton
Merrilee Fullerton is a medical professional who has spent her career helping people in her community. Today, Merrilee is the Member of Provincial Parliament for the riding of Kanata-Carleton. In June 2018, she was asked by Ontario Premier Doug Ford to assume Cabinet responsibilities as Minister for Training, Colleges and Universities. Her ministerial responsibilities also include a seat at the Treasury Board Committee of Cabinet.
Having graduated from University of Ottawa Medical School, Merrilee practiced locally, first serving out of the Carleton Place Hospital and then as a family physician in Kanata. Dr. Fullerton has been very active in professional medical associations and local health care organizations, including membership in the City of Ottawa Board of Health and the local LHIN serving Ottawa and area. She has been a constant advocate for better universal health care services, particularly long-term care services.
Merrilee is a wife and mother, raising her three children in a busy Kanata household with Steve, her husband of 34 years. Her passion for her community and her professional credentials enable Merrilee to be a strong, positive voice at Queen's Park for the residents of Kanata-Carleton and for the City of Ottawa.
