She is currently working for Natural Resources Canada\, where she is working to ensure that homes across Canada are energy efficient.\n\nHow many hours a day do you spend driving your car? And yet how many times a year does it get maintenance work done? Now imagine designing something which spins constantly\, and yet only gets serviced once a year.\n\nModern wind turbines are an important component of renewable energy\, but they face design challenges above and beyond conventional energy systems. Gwendolyn's talk will dive into the cutting edge of renewable research and development. She will discuss the unique challenges of building wind turbines from a mechanical design perspective.
