Global Trends, Local Impact: Navigating the Forces Shaping Your Family Business
Social shifts, emerging technologies, environmental pressure, economic volatility and political change are reshaping every industry, and family businesses have more at stake than ever. The question isn't whether these forces will affect your enterprise, but whether your family is ready to read them and act together.
Global Trends, Local Impact is an online workshop that helps families in business cut through the noise. Led by Dr. Robert Nason, William Dawson Scholar and Associate Professor of Strategy and Organization at McGill University's Desautels Faculty of Management, the session gives participants a practical way to scan the landscape, understand what stakeholders and the next generation expect, and turn big-picture signals into near-term decisions across the business, the family and ownership.
Participants will learn to identify and prioritize the trends that matter most, then translate them into strategy, operations, capital allocation and decision-making. They'll also gain tools for leading cross-generational conversations that turn uncertainty into clear choices, and for setting early-warning indicators and decision rules so they act at the right time.
The workshop is designed for business owners and founders, next-generation leaders, family council and board members, and family members involved in governance. It's equally valuable for Family Enterprise Advisors who want to bring current, strategic thinking to the families they serve.
