Millwork Purchaser/Inventory Manager

LTR Industries (Ottawa) Limited supplies Commercial Millwork to the general construction industry, Interior Designers and individual commercial/residential clients and offers complete design/build services, or pre-costed tendered jobs.

LTR Industries is looking for a Millwork Purchaser/Inventory Manager to join our growing team. The Purchaser is accountable for the procurement of raw materials, ensuring the effective flow of products within established cost and time parameters. The purchaser coordinates purchasing activities to meet forecast commitments and processes purchase requests in a timely manner. The purchaser possesses expert knowledge of economics and procurement methods, including the ability to negotiate successfully with suppliers to reduce expenses without harming production. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, your duties will include:

  • Coordinate deliveries: ensuring purchase order and project numbers are on all paperwork.
  • Maintain records and proof of deliveries (POD)
  • Coordinate purchasing activity to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner
  • Process purchase requisitions, change orders and requests for quotes from suppliers
  • Expediate vendor shipments
  • Creates Purchase Orders
  • Properly match up received material against Purchase Orders and forwards proper documentation to accounts payable.
  • Execute purchase requirements using best practices to planned inventory levels.
  • Gather quotes, manages cost and negotiates pricing for desired inventory levels
  • Maintain inventory with stock counts, variance checks, and cycle counts
  • Support the warehousing and shipping operations
  • Maintain a competitive supplier base
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

  • Previous purchasing/material acquisition experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good time management skills
  • Excellent work ethic and drive to succeed
  • Able to lift at least 50 pounds
  • Must have own vehicle, not on transit route
  • Able to read and understand blueprints
  • Ability to learn and take direction from others.
  • Maintains safe work environment according to all department procedures and regulations.
  • Understands and adheres to organizational and departmental policy and procedures.
  • Always conducts in a professional manner.
  • Maintains job-related confidentiality.
  • Resolves conflicts respectfully and in a timely manner, asks for assistance from appropriate supervisor/HR as needed.
  • Participates actively in department team and all staff meetings.
  • Always communicates respectfully.
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Nice to have:

  • 1-3 years’ experience in cabinet/millwork manufacturing
  • Forklift experience
  • Knowledge of millwork safety and regulations
  • Material Management experience
  • ERP experience
  • WHMIS certification
