About Us

The Mouvement d’implication francophone d’Orléans, or MIFO, is a multidisciplinary centre offering a variety of services in French in the arts, culture and community sectors. MIFO is also the main presenter of professional Francophone performances at the Shenkman Arts Centre. For 40 years, MIFO has been showcasing Francophone culture and promoting the cultural expression of the Orléans community through wide ranging variety of services.

Upon its creation in 1979, MIFO propelled forward the identity and aspirations of an entire generation wanting to live and prosper in French. Over decades, thousands of dedicated, committed, courageous individuals have built MIFO into the largest Franco-Ontarian cultural and community centre in the province with more than 350 employees and 45 000 members. MIFO is a non for profit and charitable organization.

Our large family is comprised of:

• 1,300 children in daycares
• 2,600 children taking part in camps
• 3,500 participants in a variety of activities and events
• 3,970 member families
• 15,000 moviegoers
• 14,000 spectators
• 350 employees
• 306 music school students
• 60 volunteers
